If it hadn't of been for the union we wouldn't be having this, you know, I wouldn't be having the living I have, because if it wasn't for the union, there wouldn't all these people be retiring at the ages in thirty years and out, you know, and uh... for that matter, when they were layed off, or work got slack, the ones that still were working did have the power to buy... purchasing power because their wages weren't cut, and it used to be they'd cut the wages right off, you know, right down to nothing when times were bad so the people that were working didn't have anything.
