At that morning that Roosevelt signed the national recovery act in nineteen thirty-three, a fella came to me and he said, "let's get an organizer." I said, "fine where do we get one?" He said, "I know where I can get one."

"Go ahead," I says, "I'm with you." He went down George Starkweather - I didn't know he was friend of George Starkweather's and uh... so he went down and we got an organizer. Bill Green, that was the funny thing, Bill Green was the uh... [inaudible] of the United Mine Workers and the president of the American Federation of Labor, and he sent an organizer in here, well, we got it started.
