Yes sir, it was tough. You couldn't call your soul your own, I'll tell you that. I remember at one time, I got up a little late in the morning, I was in a hurry to get to work and I didn't have time to eat breakfast and I, we had stands along the street there, you know, and I bought a nickel candy bar, figured that would last me until noon, you know.

About nine o'clock I was a getting a little, little hungry and I opend that up and took a bite out of it and I pretty near got fired over just taking a bite out of that candy bar, and that's the way we had to work.
